How to Use This Test Calculator
Grading a pile of ten-question quizzes sounds easy until you are on question seven and cannot remember whether three wrong is a 70 or a 73. Teachers and students both hit the same friction: translating missed items into a clean percentage and letter without rounding surprises. - Pick a scale. Standard uses A/B/C/D/F bands. Extended adds plus/minus letters (A+ at 97%, A at 93%, etc.).
- Enter question count. Any positive total up to 500 generates the options table.

Test Grade Formulas and Practical Applications
The core math is a simple ratio—what share of questions were answered correctly—but seeing every miss count in the options table saves you from recomputing each row by hand.
Percent = 100 × (Total − Wrong) / Total
Example: 20 questions, 3 wrong → 17/20 correct → 85% → letter B on the standard scale (B starts at 80%). On the extended scale the same 85% is a B− because B+ begins at 87%.
