• Choose your capture source in the browser dialog. Tab capture keeps notifications and desktop clutter out of frame; window capture isolates one app; full screen grabs everything visible.
• Enable microphone audio before starting if you want voiceover narration—check Include Microphone Audio first, then click Start. For sound coming from your speakers or a meeting, also enable Share tab audio or Share system audio in the browser picker itself; the mic checkbox alone does not record computer playback.
• Record, pause, and stop using the control buttons. Pause freezes the file mid-recording without ending the session—useful when you need to open a file or clear sensitive info before continuing. Hit Stop Recording when finished.
• Preview and download after stopping. The video loads in the player above so you can scrub through before saving. Click Download Video to save a file to your device. Record Again starts a fresh capture.

Think of the stat bar below the controls like a dashboard gauge cluster: Duration tracks elapsed recording time, Resolution shows the pixel dimensions of your chosen source once capture begins, and File Size estimates how large the clip is growing—handy before you record a long demo and end up with a file too big to attach.

Moving onto practical environments: software walkthroughs work best with tab capture so only the app you are demoing appears on screen. Bug reports benefit from window capture—you isolate the dialog or error state without exposing your email inbox behind it. Training clips often need the mic checkbox plus tab audio so viewers hear both your narration and the product sounds. Export format depends on your browser. Most Chromium-based browsers save WEBM files. WebKit-based browsers may produce MP4 instead. Browser support matters: screen recording requires a secure HTTPS connection and a desktop browser with display capture support. iPhone and iPad browsers cannot record the full screen from a website—use the device's built-in Control Center screen recording instead, or switch to a modern desktop browser on a computer. Android support varies; if capture fails, update your browser or try a desktop machine.

A few behaviors worth knowing before your first take: if you click the browser's native Stop sharing banner while recording, the tool treats that the same as hitting Stop Recording and finalizes the file. Closing the tab mid-capture also ends the session—keep this page open until you download. After a long recording, use the built-in video player to scrub to the end and confirm audio synced correctly before attaching the file to a ticket or email.
