Semester GPA = Σ(Grade Point × Credits) / Σ(Credits)
Cumulative GPA with prior work
Cumulative GPA = (Prior GPA × Prior Credits + Semester Grade Points) / (Prior Credits + Semester Credits)
Example: prior 3.40 on 60 credits plus this term's 15 grade points on 15 credits (a 3.00 semester) gives cumulative (3.40×60 + 45) / 75 ≈ 3.32. That quick check tells you whether one strong term materially moves a multi-year average.
